Five workshops for those who want to enjoy nature, even in the middle of winter
Mise à jour le 15/02/2024
The heart of winter is here, and motivation to get outdoors is waning as the plaid creeps up on our noses. For those who still want to keep their feet on the ground (and their hands in), here are five fresh ideas for nature workshops!
Restoring a vegetable garden in Montparnasse
On the outskirts of Montparnasse station, the Centre Paris Anim' participatory vegetable garden is just waiting for friendly hands to help it flourish. Every Wednesday between 6 and 7 p.m., the Centre offers to nourish the earth and the mind, free of charge, by alternating practical and theoretical lessons. As the saying goes (more or less): "A healthy mind in a healthy garden…"
Playing in the warmth of the Maison Paris Nature
Because nature can also be enjoyed in the warmth of indoors, Maison Paris Nature is offering an afternoon of board games on the theme of nature on January 17, as part of its "Nature in Paris" program. The program includes games for everyone, from 2 to 99 years old, to play alone or in a group.
Sharing plants at La Grange-aux-Belles
Every Wednesday and Saturday, the Centre Paris Anim' La Grange-aux-Belles in the heart of the 10th arrondissement organizes a program of planting, cuttings, seed exchange and knowledge sharing.
For just 10 euros per enrolment (activities are subject to family quota), young and old alike can learn about gardening, insects and, in short, all the life that teems beneath our feet.
An introduction to vegetable-based inks at Ressourcerie Créative
The 14th arrondissement's Ressourcerie Créative offers a myriad of creative workshops, focusing on the use of recycled materials and "do it yourself". We particularly like the Saturday, March 16 event, which focuses on vegetable-based paint. Two workshops, "Vegetable ink making" in the morning, and "Introduction to vegetable dyeing" in the afternoon, provide an opportunity to learn more about these traditional techniques.
Registration costs 10 euros for each workshop, and it is of course possible to attend one without taking part in the other. Places are limited to five people per workshop, so run along!
Learn to observe birds at Maison Paris Nature
Also at Maison Paris Nature, bird lovers can indulge their ornithological passions with two workshops in the form of participatory observatories, dedicated to our flying friends.
The first, taking place on January 19, focuses on observing the garden birds we meet on a daily basis, and which also roam around the Parc Floral.
The second workshop, on January 31, will focus on observing the large family of seagulls, which like to fly over the seas as much as they like to fly over the ponds of the Parc Floral.
